The Quebec Research Nurses Association is a non-profit organization, which officially began in Quebec City in 1991.

We have approximately 300 members in various fields of clinical research in the province of Quebec and our association is listed among the associations of the Quebec Order of Nurses. Our members work in university and regional hospitals, acute and long-term care facilities, private clinics and offices, and for pharmaceutical companies.

The clinical research world is a constantly evolving field composed of multidisciplinary groups subject to legal, governmental, scientific and ethical rules and obligations. Standards and rules exist to ensure the integrity and safety of participating subjects and are not influenced by age, gender, origin or motive.

Clinical research nurses are not only an important and crucial link in the chain that forms the multidisciplinary team, but also in the work to carry out and apply the various facets of research. Clinical research has evolved in leaps and bounds over the last few years.

The pivotal role of the research nurse has also evolved, with a resulting impact on their practice and responsibilities. Conscious of this impact, research nurses want and need to update their knowledge so they can complete their work in a professional manner and respect ethical and quality aspects.

Our association wants to encourage the development of tools that will help them achieve this. We also want to increase interest for clinical research courses and workshops rendering them accessible. However, as practitioners, we want the expertise acquired by our members over many years of clinical research practice to be used to define the control mechanisms and quality of nursing acts required in this field.

Clinical research is an important part in the ever growing responsibilities associated with nurses and it is with this in mind that we have created this website.
